2010 Audi A3 Best Gallery

A brand new generation of Audi’s premium compact, the A3 will be offered at the end of 2010. This car is intended to become the most attractive vehicle in the segment and will be offered in at least three different body types.

The first new A3 to go in production will be a 3-door sports hatch with a very dynamic line and an ascendant profile. The front will be even more dynamic than it currently is, and the rear will offer an inclined window. The other two will be a 5-door sedan and a convertible.

LEDs will be included in the front lights for daytime use, in the side mirrors and also in the rear as braking lights. The lateral protection strips will be eliminated for a cleaner design. The wheelbase will be slightly increased and the car will also be widened.

New petrol FSI and diesel TDI engines will be offered matched with brand-new gearboxes including a 7-gears dual clutch DSG transmission. A future S3 top model equipped with a turbo engine is expected to offer up to 300 bhp. Also not confirmed, an RS3 might also be possible.

Inside information points that the next generation A3 will also offer hybrid propulsion, test mules from Audi and Volkswagen being currently in tests. The development of the hybrid models is less likely to be ready until 2010; therefore they will not be available at the initial launch of the A3. But they are expected to represent a key element in the popularity of the future model, offering the Audi performance with a low fuel consumption and significantly reduced pollution.

Audi A3 Nice Sports Cars Review

The Audi A3 is a small family car produced by the German automaker Audi since 1996. Two generations of A3 exist, both based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, which they share with several other models such as the Audi TT, Volkswagen Golf, Caddy and Touran as well as SEAT León, SEAT Toledo and Škoda Octavia.

First generatio
Planned for production from 1993 under the control of Matthias Müller,[citation needed] the original A3 (or Typ 8L) was introduced in the European market in 1996, marking Audi's return to the lower market segments since the demise of the Audi 50. This was the first Volkswagen Group model to use the "PQ34" or "A4" platform, bearing a natural close resemblance to its contemporary, the Volkswagen Golf Mk4. The car was initially available only with a three-door hatchback body, in order to present a more sporty image than the Golf, in both front- and four-wheel drive. All engines were an inline four-cylinder configuration, and were transversely mounted. After the A4, the Audi A3 was the second model in the Audi lineup to use five valves per cylinder

2010 Audi A1 Latest Cars Review

If the A3 is any guide, the 2010 Audi A1 should be offered in two models. Some sources indicate a 4-door hatch is in the offing, but it may be joined by a 2-door hatchback. In any event, the entry-level model will have front-wheel drive and a high-power version will get Audi's quattro all-wheel drive. Both will use 4-cylinder engines.

The 2010 Audi A1 base model could come with around 130 horsepower. The AWD A1 would probably sport VW's unique "Twincharger" 1.4-liter engine already available in Europe with up to 168 horsepower; it compares nicely with the supercharged Mini Cooper S. The "Twincharger" is so named because it uses both a supercharger, to maximize low-end torque, and a turbocharger, for maximum high-rpm power.
The Audi Line-up

Both 2010 Audi A1 models should offer a choice of 6-speed transmissions: A regular manual and optional Audi S-Tronic, a computer-operated sequential manual transmission that can be set to shift like an automatic, styling and appointments should borrow liberally from the A3 and A4 models, though standard and optional features will be carefully chosen to achieve target prices that won't cannibalize sales from the larger A3s.

A Notable Feature of the 2010 Audi A1

The 2010 Audi A1 will be no stripped-down minicar. We look for all the standard features expected of premium brands, such as antilock brakes, curtain side airbags, full power assists, and a decent stereo. The AWD version should add spiffs like antiskid/traction control, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, larger wheels and tires, and no doubt sportier suspension calibrations

Audi A1 Sportback

In yet another pre-Paris Motor Show leak, these images of the Audi A1 Sportback concept surfaced online only hours before the car was due to be officially unveiled!

The MINI rival will become the smallest car in the Ingolstadt maker’s stable when it hits showrooms at the end of next year, effectively plugging the gap left when the Audi A2 was discontinued.

As you can see, the newcomer certainly doesn’t lack visual flair, with clean lines inspired by last year's Metro Project quattro. It’s practical too, with a five-door layout and capable of transporting four adults thanks to two full-sized individual rear seats.

Powered by a 1.4-litre TSI engine developing 150bhp (thanks to a turbo and a supercharger) and mated to Audi’s twin-clutch S tronic gearbox, the A1 will be no slouch. Yet, the maker claims a highly impressive 92g/km CO2 figure, in part as a result of the car’s mild hybrid powertrain, with a 27bhp electric motor complimenting the engine.

We’ll get more details when the newcomer is officially unveiled, so come back to Auto Express online tomorrow for the full story.

2011 AUDI A7 SPORTBACK

2013 AUDI A7

2012 Audi A7 First Drive

Sardinia is a really old place, and at first it feels odd to drive Audi's latest creation, the 2012 Audi A7, on roads that meander past the remains of a stone village from the Bronze Age and a 3,800-year-old olive tree that's miraculously still alive.

But Sardinians have gotten in the habit of reinventing their island over the centuries. Their latest creation is the Costa Smeralda, a gorgeous strip of coastline that's currently the No. 1 destination for millionaires from Moscow, Dubai and all points in between. You certainly wouldn't be surprised to see a high-end vehicle here, particularly if it's new and avant garde in design, as the Audi A7 is.

We don't mean to make too much of the "five-door coupe" marketing wizardry that will accompany the launch of the 2012 Audi A7 in Europe this fall and here in the U.S. next spring. This car is a sedan, in the same way the Mercedes-Benz CLS is a sedan. The difference is the A7 has a hatchback tail, so it can carry four millionaires and their luggage on a tour of the island.

Of course, the beautiful vacationers would never actually want to be seen in a practical vehicle, so the 2012 Audi A7 hides that utility under sleek bodywork.

2010 Audi A7 Cars Review

Part of Audi's plan for expansion includes taking the Mercedes-Benz CLS, BMW's upcoming 8-series and the Jaguar XJ replacement (due next year) head on. The automaker is convinced that the future of flagship sedans revolves around the "four-door coupe" body style and the A7 will be an attempt to dominate in that segment.

According to Autocar, the A7 will be 4,900mm long, underpinned by a stretched version of the A5's Modular Long Platform (MLP) that will also be used on the next A6. The platform puts a premium on optimum weight distribution, and while the A6 will feature a traditional coil-sprung suspension, the A7 is expected to ride on an air-spring setup.

Power is expected to come from a variety of gasoline and diesel powerplants, including a host of direct-injected engines ranging in displacement from 2.8- to 4.0-liters, along with a 2.7-liter diesel V6 and a twin-turbocharged version of the 3.0-liter TDI V6. Naturally, S7 and RS7 variants are planned, with the latter receiving the twin-turbo'd 5.2-liter V10 found in the RS6, delivering 600 hp to all four wheels through a new torque distribution system which will debut on the new S4. The base transmission on most models will be a six-speed manual, while a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a traditional automatic will also be offered.

Audi aims to sell 40,000 A7s each year, with the majority finding their way to the U.S. market. Look for the A7 to debut in 2010.

Peruse the A7's spec sheet and, behind the sofa, a large, grey pachyderm stirs. Five doors, lifting tailgate, front-wheel drive, check; a trunk snakes gently over your shoulder in search of a currant bun. Look at the A7 photos and you realise that not only is there an elephant in the room, but that Audi has built a hatchback.

After years of telling the world that only a saloon is stiff enough for sporty German handling, Audi has now 'fessed up that while hatchbacks might be potentially more floppy, people like them. First it was the A5 Sportback, and now this: the new A7.

Big, high-strength steel side frames and complex bracing around the hatchback retain torsional strength, with cast-aluminium front suspension turrets just like Audi's top-model A8 limo. Doors, bonnet, hatchback and the front wings are hot-formed aluminium.

The result passes America's fearsome pylon side-impact test, but is stiffer and 15 per cent lighter than the outgoing A6 saloon (the A7's new chassis will underpin the forthcoming A6 replacement).

While the blurb pitches the A7 as a grand coupé competing with the newly updated Mercedes-Benz CLS, it's both more and less than that. It's also standout lovely in that utterly understated Audi mien – horrible Q7 excepted. There are even shades of Alfa Romeo's GTV6, Giorgetto Giugiaro's and Alfa Centro Stile's elegant Eighties coupé. Funny that Walter da Silva, VW/Audi's design grand panjandrum, ran Centro Stile at the time.

2010 Audi A4 2.0t Road Test

2010 Audi A4 2.0t2010 Audi A4 2.0t

The worst drive of the year is the run to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. In the midst of winter, the 401 that links Toronto to the Motor City can be as benign as a walk in the park (nodding off because of the tedium being the biggest risk). Conversely, it can be a hellish slog along an ice-covered ribbon of road in the midst of a whiteout. Over the years, I have encountered both. The solution is to take a leaf out of the Boy Scout’s manual — Be Prepared. In that regard, an Audi A4 is about as good as it gets.

In the tester’s case, the 2.0-litre turbocharged four’s 211 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque was fired to the tarmac through a slick-shifting six-speed manual box, Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system and a good set of winter tires.

The engine is a sweet worker that never feels like it’s being taxed. The fact the torque clocks in at 1,500 rpm and stays with the program until the horsepower is at a full canter means that, unlike so many blown engines, there is never a lull in the action because turbo lag is a non-issue. For the record, the 2.0T scampers to 100 kilometres an hour in 6.6 seconds and does the 80-to-120-km/h passing move in 4.8 seconds in third gear.

The manual box helps enormously. The ratios are right and the shifter’s action is slick — it does not feel as though there is a length of knicker elastic between the shifter and the gearbox. Throw in a light progressive clutch that puts the bite point in the right place and you have a transmission that snicks through its gears with a rare precision. This holds true whether inching along in stop-and-go traffic or flogging through one’s favourite set of sweepers.

The power then reaches the road through Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system. In this application, it splits the power 40%/60% front to rear, which imparts a rear-drive feel. This system is about as good as all-wheel drive gets — the only reason the driver knows the system is doing its thing is because of the lack of wheelspin and the vices it introduces. The power is always sent to the wheel(s) that can best put the engine’s effort to work. If one front or rear wheel begins to spin, the anti-lock braking system is used to brake that wheel, which sends the power across the car to the wheel with traction. It is so proficient it all but negates the need for winter tires. That said, when equipped with the right tires, the quattro system transforms the car into a winter stalwart.

The powertrain has another unspoken advantage. The turbo and its low-end torque allow the car to be driven in a taller gear without making the engine feel as though it is lugging, which helps fuel economy.

The A4’s handling characteristics build on the driving experience. Throw the car into a corner and it runs through a looping on-ramp as though it’s on rails. Much of the credit goes to the balance the all-wheel-drive system brings to the party, but the S Line’s firmer spring and damper rates and large P245/40R18 winter tires tied things down. Body roll is just not there, understeer likewise until one oversteps the mark, and the tires, in spite of their winter tread design, deliver a ton of lateral grip. If things do go pear-shaped, there’s an electronic overseer waiting to right the wrong. Surprisingly, the tweaked suspenders and dialled-in road manners do not hurt ride comfort — the A4 trundled along absorbing all but the largest frost heaves in stride.

Inside, the A4 is a fine example of why many consider Audi to be the leader in interior design, especially when it is equipped with the S Line package. Up front, the wingback buckets hug the riders without confining, the steering wheel has a pleasant heft to it and the driving position is superb. The layout is also entirely logical, which means everything is readily reached and easily operated. If Audi is to be taken to task it is for wrapping up Bluetooth in the lengthy $3,900 Premium package on the quattro model — with more jurisdictions mandating hands-free communication, it should be standard equipment.

One of the A4’s traditional weaknesses is gone as there is now some semblance of rear-seat space. Stretching the wheelbase by 162 millimetres and making the car wider mean two adults can ride in the back with room to spare. Likewise, the 16.9-cubic-foot trunk capacity is up to the task of toting a family of four’s luggage.

There was a lot to like about the previous Audi A4. The latest version is so much better — it now competes head to head with its key German rivals. The beauty of the rework is that it does not blunt the edgier drive whatsoever. The A4 still feels lithe and alive while accommodating its riders in a more spacious cabin. Oh, and that dreaded drive? It passed without incident. The fact the A4 returned a wallet-pleasing average of 7.9 litres per 100 km cemented my admiration for the car.

Audi A4 1.8 Nice Review

I bought a new car today. A Black 2002 Audi A4 1.8T with 29k miles on it. It's pretty sweet. It has black leather interior, moonroof, CD/Tape/Radio and a whole bunch of features I haven't had the chance to screw around with yet but I will when I pick it up at 5:30PM tonight.

I'll have the pleasure of driving it to Las Vegas tonight to see Angela. I'm really excited to see her. It's been over two months since I last saw her. What's up with that!? We had a rough last two months especially with Angela working two jobs and eighteen hour days. We didn't get to see or talk to each other much which took its toll on us both; especially her. But she is back to working one job and things are getting back to how they used to be in our relationship. It makes me very happy.

The only difference between the car in the pictures and mine is mine has dark tinted windows.
